Are you passionate about shaping the future of Design Technology education? Do you excel at guiding practical projects and activities? Bury Church is looking for a forward-thinking individual to join our team as Assistant Head of the Design Technology department. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in nurturing the next generation of innovators, creators, and pioneers. Join us as Assistant Head of DT and you will be responsible for creating and delivering an engaging curriculum that bring the subject to life while also creating a dynamic learning environment where experimentation is not just encouraged but celebrated. You'll foster an atmosphere where every student feels valued, supported and empowered to explore their potential. From guiding them through the nuances of crafting with wood to the intricacies of designing with textiles, you'll lead them in hands-on projects that inspire curiosity and ignite innovation. Whether it's navigating the complexities of Resistant Materials or delving into the culinary world of Food & Nutrition, you'll take a lead role in the department’s team to help guide students through a diverse range of specialisms, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world.


WE ARE SEEKING A PASSIONATE CANDIDATE WHO:

  • Has a sound and developed knowledge of your subject and of its examination specifications.
  • Has the ability and/or experience to teach Design Technology at KS3 and KS4.
  • Understand health and safety and COSHH regulations in relation to ensuring safe working practice.
  • Can create and maintain a disciplined and stimulating environment in which all students are well motivated and learn.
  • Promotes the appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of your subject, being passionate about teaching it well.
  • Monitors students’ progress and create opportunities for all students to reach their full potential.
  • Establishes good working relationships with students and colleagues and with the wider school community.
  • Makes excellent and inventive use of available resources to assist in teaching and learning.
  • Attends and contributes to departmental meetings and contribute to departmental policies and developments.
  • Will assist in the development of the DT curriculum, ensuring the effective use of assessment to drive student progress'.
